Looking Into the Past

February 24, 2010

Mary Surratt House, Washington, DC - where Abraham Lincoln's assassination was planned. Now a Chinese restaurant called "Wok 'n Roll"

Over at swissmiss we spotted this great flickr group created by jasonepowell called Looking into the Past, in which historical photographs of neighborhoods are held up and photographed against their exact location today, allowing us to simultaneously see the city and its architecture then and now. And thanks to a comment on the post by Steven Clayton, we also discovered Bing’s cool Streetside Photo application (click on Map Apps > Streetside Photos) that imports Flickr photos to explore the city in a similar way (more info on that here).
