Dark Lens Trilogy | Architecture on the Dark Side

The Dubai Invasion is the title of Cédric Delsaux‘s final installment of his Dark Lens Triology, a series of photo-montages of Star Wars characters and space ships that roam the earthly urban settings of Paris, Lille and now Dubai, created with the help of “Battle droid 3D” Pierrick Gueneugue. While Paris and Lille were way cool, the reality-meets-fiction approach acquires a new dimension in the context of one of the world’s most far-flung urban experiments: the impossibly real Dubai.

In an interview with Deslaux (here in French), the photographer talks about why he chose Dubai:

“In a city that is essentially superlative (the tallest, the biggest, the most expensive…), even the craziest of places can wind up looking almost banal… I instantly knew that all the characters from the Star Wars galaxies would be at home here… The series is really a question about fiction. Where does it begin? What role does it play within our perception of reality?”

Enjoy the eyecandy.

City – especially such city as Dubai – images without humans look quite surreal on their own. Here the concept of runing away from reality is taken even further. Nice concept, well read also.
